The Government of Kenya in partnership with the Government of Ecuador, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) & MTCC Africa organised a Side Event dubbed- Action Towards Marine Plastic Pollution for Implementation of SDG 14 on 3rd June 2022 during Stockholm+50.

This side event aimed to create awareness on the impact of plastic pollution on the ocean, with a particular focus on marine plastic pollution and galvanize action towards stopping plastic pollution for the purposes of SDG 14 implementation.

The discussions more specifically intended to;

1. Highlight the role of the legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, as an instrument of international law, in the implementation of SDG 14
2. Promote investments and partnerships/Action Alliances to take action on plastics across their lifecycle
3. Promote multi-stakeholder dialogue and networking to eliminate plastic pollution
