MTCC Africa, under the IMO–Norad TEST Biofouling Project, is scheduled to convene the Mauritius National In-Water Cleaning (IWC) Training Workshop in Port Louis, Mauritius, from 28–29 July 2026.

The workshop will convene key national stakeholders from government, maritime authorities, ports, academia, and industry for an intensive technical training programme focused on environmentally sound In-Water Cleaning (IWC) practices and vessel biofouling management. Delivered in alignment with the 2023 Revised IMO Biofouling Guidelines and related international developments, the training aims to strengthen technical understanding, promote informed decision-making, and support national readiness for the safe implementation and oversight of IWC activities.

The activity builds upon the In-Water Inspection Methodologies training and practical technology demonstration conducted in January 2026 in Port Louis, Mauritius. Building on this foundation, the upcoming workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to further explore regulatory, operational, and institutional considerations related to IWC implementation, while also supporting discussions towards strengthening Mauritius’ national framework for biofouling management and sustainable maritime environmental protection.
