MTCC Africa, under the IMO–Norad TEST Biofouling Project, is scheduled to convene the Madagascar National In-Water Cleaning (IWC) Training Workshop in Antananarivo, Madagascar, from 15–16 July 2026.

The workshop will bring together national maritime stakeholders for specialized technical training on In-Water Cleaning (IWC), aimed at strengthening technical understanding and supporting informed decision-making in relation to vessel biofouling management. The activity builds upon the In-Water Inspection Methodologies training and practical technology demonstration conducted in September 2025 in the port city of Toamasina, Madagascar.

In addition to the technical training sessions, the workshop structure will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to undertake a gap analysis and support the development of an action plan towards strengthening Madagascar’s national policy and regulatory framework related to biofouling management and environmentally sound in-water cleaning practices.
