MTCC Africa and IMO CARES are organizing, in collaboration with OceanHub Africa, the Government of Kenya and the Africa Development Bank (AfDB), a side-event on 16 November during COP 27 on ‘Mobilizing global support for green maritime shipping in Africa’.
To complement the regional engagement of MTCC Africa, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a shared blueprint for prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action in a global partnership.
The IMO CARES (Coordinated Actions to Reduce Emissions from Shipping) is a project in its preparatory stage, with the objective that by the beginning of 2023, it should result in a proposal for a large-scale, global project, which can accelerate the demonstration of green technologies and their deployment globally in a manner that facilitates blue economic growth in developing regions. This is with an aim to build on existing knowledge, R&D centres, efforts and projects, by linking them up under one framework of cooperation.
