MTCC Africa hosted a virtual forum on Energy Efficiency in African Ports on 9th December 2021. This forum aimed to highlight measures that IMO member states ought to consider when relaying practical information to Governments particularly those of developing countries to improve energy efficiency across the maritime sector and facilitate the implementation of IMO’s mandatory energy efficiency requirements. This forum in particular focused on;

1. Implementation of recommendations of the MTCC Africa pilot project on Uptake of Port Energy Efficient Technologies and Operations
2. How African ports and maritime administrations can overcome financial challenges through bankable projects
3.  Impact of industry and regional organisations during the implementation of the Initial IMO GHG strategy
4. Future endeavors of MTCC Africa in implementing energy efficiency in the African ports
