Ms. Lydia Ngugi has been engaged in the shipping and maritime industry throughout her career. She is an International Maritime Law Lawyer and specializes in the field of Marine Environmental Law, especially on matters Climate Change in the Shipping and Maritime Industry. Over the last couple of years, she has worked with both private and public organizations as a Maritime legal expert.

Ms. Ngugi, currently the Head of MTCC- Africa also has experience working as a consultant for the International Maritime Organization on Marine Environmental Law issues. In addition to this, she has lectured Maritime Law in Public universities. She has also advised local and international organizations on Maritime related issues. Ms. Ngugi holds a Master’s degree in International Maritime Law from IMO - International Maritime Law Institute Malta and has attended specialized trainings in the field of Marine Environmental Law with a focus on Climate Change in the Shipping and Maritime Industry among others.

Ruth Mbeyu heads the Administration function and has a vast experience in finance and administration industry. She holds a Bachelors Degree for Commerce in Finance and Accounting from Pwani University, Kilifi and a Diploma in Business Administration from JKUAT.

Mr. Michael Mbaru

GHG Expert – MTCC- Africa

Mr. Michael Mbaru is an Environmental Specialist with solid years of experience in developing and monitoring environmental programs, policies and procedures to ensure protection of the environment and sustainable development.

Possess good technical and project management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities. Mr. Mbaru is extensively trained in multi-disciplinary fields such as marine environment protection, maritime studies, occupational health and safety, oil and gas management, oil spill/disaster management and response, among others giving him the much-needed blend of expertise. He is the Green House Gases (GhG) Expert and Team Leader at Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre for the African Region (MTCC-AFRICA)

Eng. Denis M. Mulwa

Energy Efficiency Expert – MTCC- Africa

Eng.Mulwa Denis Musyoka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from Moi University and a Master’s degree in Maritime Affairs specializing in Shipping and Port Management from the World maritime University.

He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers (MICS), a practicing engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
Eng. Mulwa is currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Administration specializing in Global Business at the University of Nairobi and works with Kenya Ports Authority as the Senior Electrical Engineer in charge of Generators, Substations and Distribution. He has had a vast experience in the designs and testing of High Voltage and Medium Voltage switchgears having worked with Schneider Electric as a graduate electrical engineer. Eng. Mulwa is the Author of “Maritime and Ecological Cost Benefit Analysis of Onshore Power Supply; A case study of the Port of Mombasa”, Published by Lambert Academic Publishers, GmbH Germany.
